The Games
Titles like Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and GoldenEye 007 secured the N64’s reputation as a console with genre-defining classics.
Their influence still echoes today, shaping everything from platformers to shooters to open-world adventures.
Top 10 Games per Genre
The N64 library didn’t have the most games released compared to competing consoles (PSX had over 4,000 games released over its lifespan), but what it lacked in sheer number of games released, it more than made up for it in high quality, often genre-defining games.
Because of this, the N64 community is very tight-knitted – If you loved particular games on the console, chances are many other N64 owners loved the same games too. Have a look at our Top 10 games per genre – agree or disagree, sound off in the comments!
